Your love story, surrounded by lavender and Southern charm

King George Lavender is a family-owned and operated lavender farm located in Barnwell, South Carolina. George Poole, who grew up on a dairy farm in Central New York, developed a lifelong love for animals and the satisfaction of growing his own crops. His wife, Elinor, shares that same passion through her deep love of gardening and horticulture—especially her fondness for lavender.

Together, their shared interests became the perfect blend in both marriage and business, inspiring them to pursue their dream of creating a lavender farm.

In 2016, George and Elinor moved from New York to South Carolina and purchased an 80-acre farm. Their vision continued to grow, and in 2023 they expanded the property by an additional 35 acres.

Over the years, they’ve transformed the farm into a destination for weddings and special events. In 2021, they opened their wedding venue, designed to host both intimate gatherings and large celebrations. In 2024, they added The Pond Cottage, a charming two-bedroom home on the property where guests can relax and enjoy the farm’s peaceful surroundings. The growth continued in 2025 with the addition of a chapel backdrop, greenhouse, and tea gardens—further enhancing the beauty and versatility of the venue.

King George Lavender remains a true family effort, supported by their daughter Jessica, son Nathan, son-in-law Nick, daughter-in-law Jamie, and their beloved grandchildren Ella, Addie, and Luke, along with a dedicated team of staff and vendors who help bring the farm to life.
