About King George Lavender

King George is a family owned and operated lavender farm in Barnwell, SC. George Poole grew up on a dairy farm in Central NY and has had a love of animals and the satisfaction of growing his own crops. Elinor has had a love of gardening and horticulture most of her life with a specific love of lavender.

Their two loves have been a perfect match in marriage and helping them realize their dream of opening a lavender farm.

George and Elinor moved to SC from NY in 2016 and purchased an 80 acre farm, since then they have expanded the farm by adding 35 acres this past fall. We are currently growing 8,000 lavender plants.

Over the years we have continued to add to the farm to make if a great place to plan a day trip, learn about lavender or get married. In 2021 we opened the wedding venue that can host both small and large weddings. In 2024 we added Permberley Cottage, a 3 bedroom house on the farm for guests to stay and enjoy the farm. In 2025 we are adding a chapel backdrop, greenhouse and tea gardens. We offer tours, distillation demonstrations and tea parties.

The business is supported by their daughter Jessica, son Nathan, son-in-law Nick, daughter-in-law Jamie and two grand-daughters Ella, Addie and grandson Luke and our wonderful staff & vendors.

Situated on over 100 acres of land, King George Lavender features an intimate venue to host weddings and events with up to 200+ guests. Their main indoor setting is a rustic barn venue, which surrounds visitors with exposed wooden walls and beams, as well as bistro string lighting decorated the vaulted ceiling. If you prefer an open-air celebration, the farm also features a 1,200-square-foot stone patio, complete with an outdoor fireplace and garden views. Rolling fields are present throughout the property, as well as a peaceful pond and fountain, to add a romantic finish to your celebration. The lavender blooming season is between mid-May and August, giving your summer wedding a lush, aromatic backdrop.

Services Offered

An in-house venue coordinator will work closely with you to ensure you have everything you need for a successful celebration. Chairs and tables will be provided and set up into any arrangement you prefer. The team will happily connect you with their list of trusted vendors, including catering, tent rentals, and photography services. In addition to weddings and elopements, King George Lavender can also host your prenuptial events, from your engagement party to your rehearsal dinner.
